This individual will share their experience of incarceration and help to coach and guide customers throughout their journeys. ("2nd Chance" Position)

Scope of Position: The Peer Mentor will provide support both pre-and-post-release to individuals. This individual will share their experience of incarceration and help to coach and guide customers throughout their journeys.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

· Establish rapport with individuals in recovery by demonstrating and maintaining clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries

· Mentor activities and assess the participant’s progress toward achieving employment and personal goals

· Encourage individuals to participate in and follow through with planned activities as outlined in their Individual Employment Plan (IEP)

· Help participants identify supportive resources in the community that will aid goal completion

· Liaison between participants and other staff members to address concerns and follow-up as needed

· Oversee participants activities and assist with workshop schedules

· Develop creative solutions to participants attendance problems

· Ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract

· Work with administration and staff at the Delaware County Prison

· Attend staff training at George W Hill Training and maintain professional behavior consistent with training

· Maintain participant files as specified by contractor

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

· Education related to business, education, human resources or related area is preferred, but not required

· Ability to prioritize tasks

· Flexibility

· A desire to help individuals in re-entry

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
