As the Job Developer/Education Mentor, you will have the overall responsibility for building business relationships with current, former and new clients that lead to On-the-Job Training, work experience and employment for Youth Build participants. Also providing educational mentoring for job readiness and educational blocks within curriculum.

Responsibilities

Successful Elements:

  • Create an individual plan that identify the steps necessary for youth to reach personal, academic, and employment goals
  • Maintain a caseload of 25-30 clients in which weekly contact must be made to assist youth in reaching educational and employment goals
  • Provide education and mentoring services to participants that are in need of additional support
  • Ability to establish a professional working relationship with all levels of internal and external staff and participants
  • Provide career counseling, problem solve with participants to resolve barriers to employment maintain knowledge of community resources
  • Establish relationships with employers to secure permanent and full-time employment/internship/apprenticeship opportunities for young adults
    Create students’ physical files and ensure they are in compliance with company standards
  • Follow up with employers to ensure that client expectations are met
  • Represent EDSI/SLATE at conferences, meetings and selected social functions as required

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

  • Marketing and sales experience preferred
  • Customer service experience required
  • Must be comfortable working with young adults, and possible barriers to success
  • Must be comfortable making presentations to large groups of people
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree, and three years of work experience in case management/human services or related experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
