As a Career Advisor, you will be responsible for providing case management and career counseling to customers and providing support and assistance in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Exercise consistent case management functions with eligible clientele focused on re-employment initiatives
  • Create individualized employment plan/development plan with qualifying clients
  • Ensure compliance within WIOA regulations
  • Conduct in-person/remote orientation sessions to iterate all relevant program requirements, expectations, and documentation to interested clients
  • Aid clients in overcoming expressed barriers affecting employment capabilities by offering supportive services through internal and external resources
  • Complete and submit all necessary documentation
  • Learn and monitor state-based reporting system and provide all relevant updates to corresponding client’s file
  • Establish and maintain contact with local community partners
  • Instruct and assist with employment development workshops, in person and remote
  • Maintain consistent contact with the Area Manager
  • Greet and assist all entering clientele with questions pertaining to program involvement or resource room facilitation
  • Other opportunities as available

Qualifications

 Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human resources, or related area is preferred
  • Experience working with the unemployed and underemployed population preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively as a team
  • Ability to work effectively with external government bodies and community partners
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document all client interactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent outreach and follow-through when corresponding with partners, staff, and customers
  • Able to work fully onsite or in a hybrid environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and resume building applications; strong computer literacy
  • Previous experience with unemployment compensation navigation
  • Regional travel is required
  • Clean driving record, valid Driver’s License, and reliable vehicle
