As Career Advisor, you will provide support and assistance to program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement. Due to the dynamics of working with individuals, this position necessitates an individual who is comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving.

Responsibilities

Successful Elements: 

 

•Assist in the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, placement, etc.) and share information with appropriate staff and/or funding agencies
•Accurately complete daily data entry and required documentation for enrollment and case management to support the needs of customers
•Oversee customer activities and assist with workshop schedules while assisting with presenting and facilitating
•Provide consistent and comprehensive case management and follow-up to help ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract.
•Identify and work with barriers to employment targeting professional goal setting and planning
•Provide individualized assessment of work; provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed
•Maintain organized database of customers and keep detailed documentation of all contacts with customers
•Coordinate customer retention services and accommodate customer work schedules while creating solutions for attendance conflicts to ensure customers follow through with planned activities as outlined in contract with funding agency
•Document all customer contacts and activities in case notes and ensure that post-hire contacts are made as required by specific contract
•Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with customers to aid in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment. This includes assessment, individualized attention and coordination
•Support with Individual Healthcare Training Grants and connecting candidates to occupation sills training to gain employment
•Facilitate various Career Development Workshops, Orientation, assessments, career planning services and support Career Advisor funder projects including CDNY Medical Assistant Information Session
•Re-engage customers for job placement upon training completion and refer to Center recruiters for job placement opportunities
•Other opportunities as available

Qualifications

Required Experience:
•Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
•Demonstrated telephone, computer and written communication skills
•Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require
•Customer service experience
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
•Knowledge of Healthcare Career Industry and Career Paths.

Required Education:
