As an Instructor, you will maintain a classroom conducive to learning, facilitate curriculum with successful participant engagement, and model positive, professional behavior.
About Workforce1: Workforce1 is a service provided by the NYC Department of Small Business Services that prepares and connects qualified candidates to job opportunities in New York City. We make strong matches for both candidates and employers by combining recruitment expertise, industry knowledge, and skill-building workshops to strengthen employment prospects. Services are available to individuals aged 18 and over in all five boroughs of New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
· Facilitate orientation and job readiness workshops, including resume creation and interview preparation, while adhering to standardized curriculum and scripts.
· Deliver the Northstar Digital Literacy Curriculum, helping clients pass assessments and obtain certification by identifying their skill sets.
· Conduct one-on-one and group workshops for job seekers in multiple languages, using tools and applications for transcription.
· Facilitate workshops in both in-person and virtual environments using platforms such as Teams, Zoom, and LanSchool.
· Use various sourcing tools, such as Indeed, Constant Contact, and Eventbrite, to promote awareness of services and drive workshop participation.
· Conduct outreach to invite participants to workshops and follow up afterward.
· Enter data reflecting services provided, track customers' next steps, update trackers and SmartSheets, and refer job-ready customers to the Recruitment department.
· Support other Center teams, including career advisement, data entry, and front desk reception, when workshops are not in session.
· Maintain timely completion of required data tracking tools for all activities and outcomes.
· Collaborate with the Community Partner Manager to increase workshop attendance.
· Facilitate job readiness workshops at community events, which may require local travel.
· Participate in required program and community meetings/events.
· Work closely with the Recruitment Services Manager to enhance career development services and improve employment outcomes.
· Create and maintain an environment that fosters quality interaction and learning.
· Establish clear expectations and encourage client accountability.
· Adapt instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and strengths.
· Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions.
· Use language that reflects a commitment to diversity and cultural competence.
· Adhere to the policies, procedures, and expectations of EDSI.
Required Experience:
· Experience in facilitation, instruction, training, education, and/or career development.
· Experience presenting to large groups and facilitating curriculum.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
· Familiarity with technology navigation and virtual instruction.
· Experience using event and client management systems, such as Eventbrite, Indeed, Constant Contact, and Zoom.
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
· Strong interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
Required Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Training, Human Resources, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
· Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Haitian Creole, or French.
Preferred Experience:
· Experience in the workforce development field.
