Employment Specialist

Salary: $48,000-50,000/year

 

Scope of Position:

Identify and contact prospective employers to solicit position openings to build an active job bank. Act as a liaison between local employers and program participants. Identify job-related responsibilities and tasks through job analysis.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Establish working relationships with local employers; interact with personnel and/or manager responsible for the hiring of new employees
  • Solicit job openings from employers and organize for job bank
  • Review participant employment skills and match with active positions in the job bank
  • Assist with Job Club activities as needed
  • Work with employers and participants to obtain necessary information for verifying employment
  • Apply active listening techniques, ask effective questions, and document responses with employers
  • Network with area business organizations
  • Review resumes and update as needed
  • Conduct mock interviews with participants
  • Market the On-the-Job Training Program to the employer community interested in hiring individuals participating in the WIOA Program
  • Place WIOA Adult and Dislocated Worker participants into employment
  • Report placement numbers on a weekly basis
  • Participate in monthly Employer Outreach Team meetings
  • Participate in weekly participant review meetings
  • Participate in weekly T1 meetings to discuss employer needs with other employer-facing program staff
  • Report market intelligence to Program Manager on a weekly basis
  • Meet program-required goals
  • Collaborate with Career Development Specialists
  • Other opportunities as available

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Must have 1-3 years of sales/marketing experience
  • Must have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Should have skills and experience in providing career development assistance
  • Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have notable experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be able to converse with a wide range of professionals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
