Scope of Position: Administer the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) assessment for applicants and participants across all departments of the Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! organization.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • CASAS administration at each of the four Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! Career Centers once/week. The eCASAS assessment will be the default method of assessment. Paper/pencil assessment will be used if technology is unavailable or a documented accommodation is needed.

  • Maintain the CASAS sign-up tracker including generating testing dates on the tracker, generating profiles and identification numbers for all test takers on the tracker, making reminder contacts (e.g., calls, text) to all test takers the day prior to their assessment, documenting whether testers showed for the assessment and which assessment method was utilized.
  • Manage the CASAS test lab at all four Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! Career Centers including the order of testing supplies, coordination with the IT Department for any hardware and/or networking repairs needed for a testing station
  • Prepare the CASAS test lab and individual testing stations prior to beginning an assessment. Take roll call, verify test taker profile information, verbally explain testing protocols, facilitate practice test, launch official testing session and monitor the test environment.  Troubleshoot issues that arise during the session.
  • Close down the CASAS test lab and individual testing stations at the completion of an assessment. Determine CASAS reading and math scores.  Case note scores in One-Stop Management Information System (OSMIS) and send basic score sheet to the appropriate Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! departmental staff.
  • Acquire written documentation of accommodation for individual test takers. Deliver the documented accommodation during the assessment.
  • Represent Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! with the CASAS organization including attending regularly scheduled virtual meetings and troubleshooting CASAS-related technology issues
  • Oversee network of back-up proctors at each Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! Career Center
  • Develop and deliver workshops that promote basic skills proficiency for employment and credential attainment such as Math bootcamp, study skills training, and licensing exam prep
  • Provide individual tutoring, as time permits
  • Deliver CASAS assessment to Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! High School Young Professionals applicants and participants at secondary school campuses, as needed
  • Meet with Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board Program Coordinators to discuss updates, improvements and innovations required to maintain successful testing protocols and environment across the Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! organization
  • Other opportunities as available

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Attain CASAS proctor certification for online assessments and certification for paper/pencil assessments. Recertify, as required by CASAS, every two years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education preferred
  • Working knowledge of CASAS TOPSpro system
  • Ability to troubleshoot unexpected system and technology issues during testing sessions
  • Ability to provide clear verbal instruction
  • Maintains confidentiality of test taker information and adheres to organization protocols for secure storage and disposal of test materials
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile required
