Overview

Title: Pushing Progress Philly (P3) Job Coach

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: $48,000-51,000 year

 

 

Program Description: The City of Philadelphia’s Community Violence Intervention (CVI) program, Pushing Progress Philly (P3), will serve Philadelphians who are at least 18 years old, at elevated risk of gun violence, and resistant to typical interventions. Program components include street outreach, case management, transitional jobs, coaching and behavioral health curriculum.  P3’s goals are to reduce disparities between neighborhoods, particularly economic well-being and community safety disparities, increase opportunities for Black men to participate in the workforce and to have increased economic security, and improve neighborhood safety, with a reduction in gun violence, fewer homicides, and safer streets. Neighborhoods of P3 program delivery currently include Germantown and may expand to other identified neighborhoods. This Job Coach role is part of EDSI’s function as the Job Coaching and Transitional Jobs role in the P3 ecosystem.

 

Scope of Position

  • Provide high quality individual coaching, professional development, group facilitation of cognitive behavioral, and case management to P3 participants
  • Adhere to the P3 model, mission, and approach to service delivery, including trauma-informed and restorative justice principles
  • Utilize P3’s policies and procedures to ensure services align with scope of work, data capture, and result in intended outcomes
  • Closely collaborate across all P3 teams, including outreach, crew chiefs, and behavioral health
  • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, other gun violence reduction programs, and workforce and training partners
  • Offer resource education and resource referrals to P3 participants
  • Complete daily data capture and entry as well as case note entries
  • Actively resolve conflict using human centered, non-exclusionary de-escalation techniques
  • Provide deep knowledge around community violence reduction best practices and implement protocols that follow values of non-exclusion, strengths-based, and trauma informed care

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Work with their team to orient P3 participants as they progress through each program phase
  • Create individual plans, career pathways, and safety plans
  • Conduct assessments to help guide participants to right fit services and career options
  • Facilitate daily cognitive behavioral group sessions, known as Control Alt Delete (CAD)
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development sessions
  • Advocate for participant in their career exploration, including job search, job development, and access to opportunities in employment and training
  • Act as a mediator between participant and employer worksites when appropriate
  • Collaborate on P3 events, field trips, and restorative justice projects
  • Update individual plans, career pathways, and safety plans to align with participant progress, goal advancement, and changes in need
  • Complete case notes that offer appropriate detail into services received and next steps
  • Partner with participant and Senior Job Coach on support service distribution and resource referrals
  • Document and submit attendance required for program progress and daily stipend distribution
  • Meet with each P3 participant on caseload for weekly one-on-one coaching
  • Coordinate with the outreach team to integrate effort, communication, and re-engagement
  • Review skill progress and feedback on performance from Crew Chiefs and incorporate that knowledge into coaching and professional development services
  • Work closely with behavioral health staff on any conflict resolution interventions and critical incident response planning and actions
  • Align professional development with career pathway education and real-life experiences from worksite activity
  • Source and distribute occupational skills training opportunities for P3 participants
  • Actively collaborate in weekly case reviews with Senior Job Coach
  • Demonstrate de-escalation techniques to grow a trauma-informed environment that prioritizes safety
  • Complete all required trainings and professional development to grow and implement skills, including and not limited to motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, de-escalation, behavioral modification, growth mindset, and career case management
  • Develop key partnerships and maintain successful partnerships with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate fluid approach to work and actively participate in continuous improvement

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, human resources, liberal arts or related area is required
  • Experience in group facilitation and individual coaching that implements trauma-informed, motivational interviewing, and behavioral modification principles
  • Must have knowledge of the City of Philadelphia’s social service infrastructure and local support service and training providers
  • Experience in gun violence reduction, re-entry, and workforce development programs required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent writing, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
  • Individuals with criminal records and/or lived experience with community violence are encouraged to apply
  • Most be comfortable with local travel and have access to reliable transportation
