OJT/Apprenticeship Coordinator

Scope of Position: The On-the-Job Training and Apprenticeship Coordinator will manage and build business relationships with current, former, and new clients, particularly as they pertain to OJT and Apprenticeship opportunities for jobseekers. This position will implement creative strategies to use the Registered Pre-Apprenticeship and Apprenticeship model to develop a talent pipeline of highly skilled workers that meet the current and anticipated business needs of local employers. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct face-to-face or virtual meetings with employers, unions, community colleges, career and technical schools, intermediate units, community/faith-based organizations, workforce boards, and affiliated partners to facilitate registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship plans
  • Coordinate follow-up meetings and progress on action items needed to submit a program for apprenticeship registration approval
  • Work closely with apprenticeship coordinating organizations and entities to reduce duplication and maximize efforts to outcomes
  • Collaborate to promote apprenticeship opportunities and identify jobseekers, training partners, and employers to participate in registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship activities
  • Continually review business opportunities and contact employers by phone or in person and attempt to schedule face-to-face meetings performing initial and follow-up visits as necessary
  • Develop and execute a marketing/advertising plan 
  • Represent EDSI/AJC at conferences, meetings and selected social functions such as Chamber events and other economic gatherings as necessary 
  • Enter employer information into all appropriate databases and monitor employer activities
  • Conduct Job Task Analysis as requested 
  • Meet performance criteria on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis providing target estimates, goals, and periodic progress reports
  • Stay up to date on latest local and state policy changes and industry trends utilizing data and research to assist in decision making on local level
  • Advise all stakeholders on best practices and recommendations on pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship models while sharing outcomes about progress of the program
  • Maintain a working knowledge of regional high priority occupations and labor market information to help with pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship plans as outlined in regional and local strategic plans

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience  
  • Possess a combined 3-5 years’ experience of employer services, workforce development, project management, marketing, sales, or apprenticeship standards  
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship registration paperwork, RAPIDS, and apprenticeship approval council preferred  
  • Must be comfortable making presentations to large groups of people 
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision 
  • Strong customer services and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications  
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite and other required locations 
  • Must have a current and valid drivers license and clean driving record
